HuggleHounds is proud and  humbled to be able to support Project K-9 Hero with a salute to K-9 Chief. On February 28th, 2020, K-9 Chief responded to his final call when detectives located an extremely violent felon involved in a series of robbery and torture incidents. A pursuit ensued, the suspect's vehicle was disabled, and he fled on foot. Chief was released. As he and his handler closed in, the suspect drew a pistol and fired at Chief's handler. K-9 Chief leaped between them, and a bullet struck him in the left eye, which resulted in the loss of his eye and a broken jaw. This heroic act saved Chief's handler's life but forced Chief to retire at the age of only three, leaving his handler with the financial burden.
